You will get a case manager devoted to creating the most successful transition plan tailored specifically for you. After release, you will have guaranteed gainful employment with a dedicated job coach.
You will be administered assessments, both formal and informal, that identifies your needs both within the prison and post release. These assessments drive required services for a successful transition to community.
Family and friends are important and can be a great support for you. Many years apart, however, can erode the relationship. The case manager will take all this into consideration when arranging for services, housing and reunification.
You and the case manager will review the assessments together and decide upon which services are necessary pre and post release. The case manager, in collaboration with the correctional counselor of the CDCR, will arrange for services while you are still incarcerated. The case manager will arrange for all services post release. This includes mental health counseling, health insurance, any required doctors visits (e.g. medications), family counseling, substance abuse classes and more.
Job coaching is an innovative and vital component of the Employed! program. The workplace can be a difficult place to navigate. It becomes even more difficult when a person has been out of the workplace for an extended amount of time. You will be assigned a part-time job coach beginning one month prior to release and for one-year post release. The job coach will help in many areas to include problem solving skills, abilities to work in teams, communication skills both written and verbal, technical skills of the job, interpersonal skills, organization and strategic planning skills, leadership skills and soft skills/customer servic
